Sermon Recap | "It's Time to Run"

What a weekend of celebration, renewal, and powerful worship. As we close out our 48th anniversary and six years of leadership under Pastor and Lady Nard, Sunday's message was a fitting charge to carry us forward into the next season God has prepared for us.

Summary

The sermon explored the call to run the race of faith with urgency, purpose, and endurance, drawn from Hebrews 12:1-3, 1 Corinthians 9:24-26, and Galatians 5:7. Pastor reminded us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses and are therefore called not to walk passively but to run actively, with intentionality and discipline. Just as an athlete competes with full effort, self-control, and a clear goal in mind, so too must the believer press forward in faith, laying aside every weight and sin that slows progress, and keeping their eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Takeaways

  • Run with urgency and purpose. You cannot fulfill an urgent assignment while remaining spiritually complacent. Every step in your walk with God must be intentional. Know what you are running toward and pursue it with everything you have.
  • Lay aside what is weighing you down. Not everything that hinders your race is sinful, but it can still slow your progress. Carrying too much baggage, whether worry, distraction, or unbelief, prevents you from moving at the pace God has called you to. Cast your cares upon Him, because He cares for you.
  • Give God a submitted yes. The only thing God requires is a genuine yes, not from your lips alone, but from your heart. Your yes to God is greater than comfort, convenience, or anything this world offers. It is the posture that positions you to receive everything God has promised.

An Invitation to Reflect

In your time with the Lord this week, here are a few questions you can meditate on:

  1. Hebrews 12:1 calls believers to lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily trips them up -- what is the difference between a sinful burden and a non-sinful weight, and how do you discern which things in your life are slowing your spiritual race?
  2. The sermon emphasized that a submitted yes to God must come from the heart rather than merely from the lips, citing the principle that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks -- how do you honestly assess whether your yes to God is rooted in genuine surrender or in religious habit?
  3. The sermon closed with a vision of community, connection, and outreach rooted in the love believers have for one another as described in John 13:35 -- in what specific ways can your faith community move beyond internal fellowship to demonstrate that love in ways that draw others toward Christ?

Announcements & Reminders

THANK YOU CHURCH!

Opportunities for Growth This Week:

Don't forget to join us for prayer this week, Tuesday and Friday, 6 AM and 12 PM!
There's a lot that can be learned at the table and this one is open to everyone. Table Talk: Kingdom Conversations this Wednesday at 6:30 PM!
As Pastor shared from his own season of feeling stuck, this message was not simply a sermon but a testimony. God is reviving vision, renewing purpose, and preparing His people for a season of manifestation and harvest.

Do not give up.
Do not quit.
Stay in the race. God is getting ready to do it.

We encourage you to join us on Wednesday, October 28th at 6:30 PM for our monthly leadership meeting, where Pastor will share the next steps, direction, and vision for where God is taking Pentecostal. Your involvement matters, and your part in this Body of Christ is needed.
